Surah Nooh

Ayah - , Makkah

71:1
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦٓ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ1

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment."

71:2
قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّى لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌۭ مُّبِينٌ2

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner,

71:3
أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ3

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

[Saying], 'Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me.

71:4
يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُ ۖ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ4

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' "

71:5
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِى لَيْلًۭا وَنَهَارًۭا5

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

He said, "My Lord, indeed I invited my people [to truth] night and day.

71:6
فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَآءِىٓ إِلَّا فِرَارًۭا6

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

But my invitation increased them not except in flight.

71:7
وَإِنِّى كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوٓا۟ أَصَٰبِعَهُمْ فِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَٱسْتَغْشَوْا۟ ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا۟ وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ ٱسْتِكْبَارًۭا7

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance.

71:8
ثُمَّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًۭا8

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

Then I invited them publicly.

71:9
ثُمَّ إِنِّىٓ أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًۭا9

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly

71:10
فَقُلْتُ ٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارًۭا10

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver.

71:11
يُرْسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًۭا11

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers

71:12
وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَٰلٍۢ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَٰرًۭا12

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers.

71:13
مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًۭا13

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur

71:14
وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا14

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

While He has created you in stages?

71:15
أَلَمْ تَرَوْا۟ كَيْفَ خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٍۢ طِبَاقًۭا15

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

Do you not consider how Allah has created seven heavens in layers

71:16
وَجَعَلَ ٱلْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًۭا وَجَعَلَ ٱلشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًۭا16

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp?

71:17
وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًۭا17

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth.

71:18
ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًۭا18

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction.

71:19
وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًۭا19

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

And Allah has made for you the earth an expanse

71:20
لِّتَسْلُكُوا۟ مِنْهَا سُبُلًۭا فِجَاجًۭا20

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

That you may follow therein roads of passage.' "

71:21
قَالَ نُوحٌۭ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِى وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارًۭا21

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

Noah said, "My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children will not increase him except in loss.

71:22
وَمَكَرُوا۟ مَكْرًۭا كُبَّارًۭا22

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

And they conspired an immense conspiracy.

71:23
وَقَالُوا۟ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّۭا وَلَا سُوَاعًۭا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًۭا23

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

And said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwa' or Yaghuth and Ya'uq and Nasr.

71:24
وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا۟ كَثِيرًۭا ۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَٰلًۭا24

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

And already they have misled many. And, [my Lord], do not increase the wrongdoers except in error."

71:25
مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٰٔتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُوا۟ فَأُدْخِلُوا۟ نَارًۭا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا۟ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَنصَارًۭا25

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

Because of their sins they were drowned and put into the Fire, and they found not for themselves besides Allah [any] helpers.

71:26
وَقَالَ نُوحٌۭ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ دَيَّارًا26

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

And Noah said, "My Lord, do not leave upon the earth from among the disbelievers an inhabitant.

71:27
إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا۟ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓا۟ إِلَّا فَاجِرًۭا كَفَّارًۭا27

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

Indeed, if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and not beget except [every] wicked one and [confirmed] disbeliever.

71:28
رَّبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَىَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِىَ مُؤْمِنًۭا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًۢا28

SAHEEH INTERNATIONAL

My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house a believer and the believing men and believing women. And do not increase the wrongdoers except in destruction."
